George Paul COOK Obituary

COOK, George Paul

George Paul Cook, 88, of Simsbury, husband of the late Marjorie A. (O'Hare) Cook, died Friday, (November 16, 2012) at his home with dignity and grace with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 12, 1924 in Holyoke, MA, son of the late George W. and Jean (Bourdeau) Cook and had lived in Simsbury most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy as a Signalman in the Armed Guard. Mr. Cook was a Controller at Ensign Bickford Enterprises in Simsbury for many years prior to his retirement. He was the Past President of the Connecticut Opera Association and a member of the Metropolitan Opera Association. George was an avid golfer and musician - drummer extraordinaire, having been asked to jam with many of the Jazz greats. He also was a fan of the Red Sox, New York Giants, Hartford Whalers and UCONN basketball. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan Cook of Littleton, NH, Marga Swanson of Simsbury, Judith Ogorzalek and her husband Robert of Rockfall; two sons, James A. Cook of Simsbury, Robert E. Cook and his wife Dimitra of Westfield, MA; seven grandchildren, Jason Cook, Brian Cook, Scott Patlovich, Mike Fucito, Krista (Swanson) Vickery, Dave Ogorzalek and Alison Cook and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Patlovich. He and his puns and jokes will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We find comfort in knowing that he is dancing in Heaven with the love of his life, Marge.
There are no calling hours and services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center or to the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, both at 10 Talcott Noch Rd., Suite, 100, Farmington, CT 06032.
