BLANCHETTE, Master Gunnery Sgt. Gordon T.

Master Gunnery Sgt. Gordon T. Blanchette, 79, of East Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Born in Baltic on November 28, 1933 he had resided in East Hartford for most of his life. A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during both the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. Gordon retired from the U. S. Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 26 years of dedicated service for his country. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he served as a Sheriff at the Superior Federal Court House in Hartford for over 12 years. Gordon was a former member of the VFW Post #2083, East Hartford and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins football team. A talented golfer and bowler he participated in the Marine Corps Golf League and had the opportunity to play with Arnold Palmer. Gordon is survived by a son, Richard T. Blanchette and his wife, Tiffany, of Avon; three daughters, Lisa M. Orsini and her husband, Joseph J., of South Glastonbury, Patricia "Trish" Blanchette of South Glastonbury, Tracy Ann Bassett of Coventry; his long-time companion, Annette Coon of East Hartford with whom he made his home; seven special grandchildren; one adored great-grandson; and his dog, Otis. Gordon's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Gordon's neighbors, Steve and Yvonne, for their friendship and assistance.
Funeral services will be Monday (July 22nd) at 11 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at the Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
