ANDERSON, Grace Grace Anderson, 81, of Tariffville, died on Thursday, (July 27, 2006) at home after a valiant 11-year battle with cancer. She was born at home in Roselle Park, NJ on January 30, 1925. After graduating from Roselle Park High School, she attended Union Junior College and worked at Singer Manufacturing Co. before marrying Robert Anderson in 1950 and raising four children. She worked as a church secretary in New Jersey and at several churches in Connecticut after moving to Avon in 1968. She was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Avon, singing in the choir, participating in the Women's Society and Bible study as well as a long list of many other volunteer activities. She also volunteered at the Avon Health Center. Her spirit, her optimism, and her faith helped her overcome her personal challenges. She served as an inspiration to her family and all those she befriended over the course of her lifetime. Grace is survived by her husband Robert C. Anderson of Tariffville; her three children, Paul R. Anderson of Barre, MA, Linda Grace Anderson of Frederick, MD and Barbara Ritchie of Kensington; her two sisters, Helen Bruce of East Harwich, MA and Jean Reichert of Wheaton, IL; her brother, John Kopf of Cranford, NJ; five grandchildren and a great-grandson. She was predeceased by her son, Lawrence D. Anderson. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Monday, July 31, from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. in the Memorial United Methodist Church, 867 West Avon Rd., Avon with Rev. James R. Hoffman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 867 West Avon Road, Avon, CT 06001.
