Obituary Condolences

Hallie-Jo Halden, 59, passed away Friday, (April 18, 2003) at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in St. Albans, June 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Alwin D. and Martha (Domey) Collins. On March 13, 1976 in Litchfield, Connecticut she married Frank N. Halden who survives her. Hallie-Jo was a 1961 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and a member of the Hardwick American Legion Post #7, Auxiliary. She was employed by Montgomery Wards for years, managed her own home sewing and quilting shop, and most recently worked for several years as a cashier for Price Chopper in Morrisville. Besides her husband, Frank of Craftsbury, she is survived by her children, Amy Christiansen and her husband, Fletcher, of Morrisville, VT, David Bitler and his wife, Angela, of Danville, VT, Andrea Downs and her husband, Timothy, of Falls Village, CT, Tracy Ouellette and her husband, Stephen, of Bennington, NH and Samantha Morin and her husband, Brian, of Redmond WA; a sister, Penelope Whalen and her husband, Robert, of Bloomfield, CT; two brothers, Frederick Collins and his wife, Carol, of Moretown, VT and Eric Collins and his wife, Kim, of Richford, VT; a brother-in-law, Robert Halden and his wife, Shoshana of Erwin, PA; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Ayllon, of Flushing, NY; thirteen grandchildren; and her beloved dog, "Jynx". She was predeceased by her parents and an infant son, Darrell Bitler in 1962. Her joys in life were her grandchildren, being out in the garden, canning the harvests with her husband, sewing, flowers, reading many a book, wallpapering many a room, family gatherings, and sharing the bounties of life. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 2 p.m., in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Ben Thurber officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lahey Clinic, c/o The Pulmonary Department for Lung Cancer Research, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
