Jane GROSS Obituary

GROSS, Jane D. Jane D. Gross, 78, of Moodus, died Wednesday, (February 24, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. Born January 11, 1932, in Sullivan, ME, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Irene (Hooper) Dunbar. Jane had lived in Moodus for the past 28 years. Her passion in life was her family and taking care of feral cats. She had retired from Pratt & Whitney where she had worked as an Administrative Assistant. She leaves her two sons Herb Gross, and his partner, Debra Polzun, of Manchester, Harvey Gross and his wife, Nova-Lee, of Moodus; her daughter, Diane Martin and her life partner, Neil Beausoleil, of Sullivan ME; a brother, Phillip Dunbar of Maine; a sister, Paula Ring of Maine; six grandchildren, Travis Scott Mercier, Christina Gross, Harvey Scott Leonard, Ann Marie Leonard, Elizabeth Marie Echevarria, and Rose Marie Echevarria; two great-grandchildren, Rayna Lynne Mercier and Anthony Henry Scott Lombardo. She was predeceased by her long time companion, Edgar Goss; a brother, Allen Dunbar; and a granddaughter, Ayla Marie Rose Martin. She also leaves two "adopted" grandchildren, Christine and Jerry Altius. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, at 10 a.m., in the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, with the Rev. John Boernier-Mercier officiating. Burial will be in First Church Cemetery in Moodus. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Protector of Animals P.O. How sad. Jane was a loving, caring and very generous person, Jane was a favorite "sister-in-law". For hours we have talked, laughed and cried together over the years. A trip to Moodus will never be the same. Family, each of you are in my prayers. I must make the call, I have no adequate words.
