Jean BOUCHARD Obituary

BOUCHARD, Jean Richard "Dick"

Jean Richard "Dick" Bouchard, 84, of Enfield, passed away at Parkway Pavillion in Enfield, CT after a long and fruitful life. Loving family members were with him at the time of his passing. He was born in Berlin, NH the youngest of nine children. After high school he attended Portland Junior College, then located in Westbrook, Maine. He paid his way through school with his talent of photography. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War at one point stationed in Alaska. Upon his return to the lower 48, he located in Connecticut working for Hamilton Standard Corporation. During that time he met his soon to be wife Carol (Zack). They married in August on 1959. Over the next several years they raised their four children, Daniel, Susan, Paul and Michelle. He also eventually opened his own business in the HVAC industry after spending several years working for various other companies. An active man, he taught all of his children the things he loved and excelled at. Swimming, skiing, ice skating, fishing, racquetball, golf to name a few. He was particularly gifted in woodworking, often offering to build some complicated piece of furniture for one of his children or for his wife. Solving problems was simply something he enjoyed doing. Richard was pre-deceased by brothers Adrian, Maurice, Paul, Roland and Clement and by sisters Annette, Eleanor and Irene. He was also recently pre-deceased by his youngest daughter Michelle Cullen, of Marlborough, CT after a too brief battle with cancer. One of the great family events that all of the relatives looked forward to, was Thanksgivings at his brother Roland's house. Multiple turkey's, too many pies to count, and activities in and out of the house is what Richard enjoyed the most. He loved people - meeting them, socializing with them, laughing and joking with them. Whether it was with family or his pals at the Enfield Senior Center, playing cards, shooting pool, playing cribbage or trading stories - he just loved people. Richard is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years Carol, who attended him daily through the final years. He is also survived by his son Daniel and wife Rosemary, daughter Susan, son Paul and son in law Paul Cullen. His six grandchildren Jake, Sarah, Aaron, Sydney, Nicholas and Mitchell also experienced a great deal of good times with their papa and enjoyed his fun loving spirit. A special thanks to the entire staff at Parkway Pavillion/Kindred of Enfield for their care of Richard. In particular, Israel, Doreen, Judy and Erin provided that extra comfort we all appreciated.
The sole service will be at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24th for family and friends.
