TAYLOR, Joanne L.

Joanne L. Taylor, 61, of Windsor beloved wife of Glenn Taylor, passed away, Wednesday, (May, 1, 2013), at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, daughter of Shirley (Hickman) Taylor of Windsor and the late Horace C. Taylor, she graduated from Weaver High School, Class of 1969. Joanne was employed by St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center for over 25 years before retiring. She loved her community and helping others as she was an active volunteer in all the various PTO's in the schools her children attended. She was a Brownie Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of the Friends of Northwest Park and enjoyed coordinating the various programs and events at the annual Country Fair. Joanne was a long time volunteer during the Annual Shad Derby Festival, where she was on the queen's committee for the coronation ball. She was a member of the Windsor Junior Women's Club and the Jaycee Women of Windsor. Besides her husband and mother; she leaves a daughter Stefanie Taylor of Windsor; two sons Steven C. Taylor and his wife Ayana of Windsor and James C. Taylor of Hartford; a brother Clifford Taylor and his wife Benetta of Bloomfield; a sister Linda P. Taylor of New Britain; four grandchildren Michele Taylor-Ware, Brendan Jenkins, Chloe Taylor, and Steven Taylor, Jr.; a niece Rayshida T. Taylor and a nephew Tylon C. Taylor; special cousins Juanita Barnett, Patricia Norman, Clifford Wood and Paul Wood of South Carolina, Lucille Harrison of Hamden and a host of relatives and friends.
Her family will receive friends Thursday, May 9, from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Union Baptist Church, 1921 Main St., Hartford, prior to her funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Kenric Prescott, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Windsor Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Windsor Public Library, 323 Broad Street, Windsor, CT 06095.
