HEWES, John B.
John Bulkeley Hewes, 60, of Middlefield, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, (August 7, 2012) at his home. Born in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Peter and Edna (Crowley) Hewes. John loved nature, wildlife and was an avid reader. He was a good friend and a proud father who was well loved and will be missed by many. John was the loving father of three children, Philip J. Hewes of Middlefield, Karen E. Hewes of Arlington, MA and Steven T. Hewes of Alexandria, VA; his brother, Samuel Hewes of Haddam; and a nephew, Peter Thody of Canada. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gayle Thody and nephew, Christopher Thody.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown with Rev. Dr. Dale H. Azevedo officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, and in John's memory, because he donated blood countless times throughout his life, friends may donate blood or donate monetarily to the American Red Cross, 97 Broad St., Middletown, CT 06457.
