Kenneth L. Caya Obituary

Kenneth L. Caya, 63, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a long battle with melanoma. Born in Willimantic, CT, he was the son of Leonard Caya of Willimantic and the late Evelyn (Moseley) Caya. Ken was an avid outdoorsman who was a sailing instructor and also loved to hike, trail run, cross-country ski and snowshoe. When not spending time with his family or engaged in outdoor sports, Ken could be found doing woodwork or attending antique car shows. Ken's interest in classic cars and meticulous attention to details was evident in the award winning 1960 MGA Coupe that he personally restored. His MGA was featured in several classic automobile magazines. He began his professional career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and subsequently held various manufacturing engineering and director of operation positions, most notably at Fafnir Bearing, Standard Motor Products, Empire Industries, Nova Electronics and Gunther International, Ltd. In addition to his wife, Basia, Ken is survived by his son, Kristofer Caya and his wife, Wendy of Bolton as well as his cherished granddaughter, Amelia. He also leaves behind his six siblings: Joseph and his wife Norah Caya of North Windham, Nancy and her husband Arthur Breault of Willimantic, David and his wife Cindy Caya of Willimantic, Bonnie and her husband Michael Sikoski of Windham, Salli and her husband Michael Maglio of Glastonbury and Terri and her husband Daniel Richard of Scotland, 19 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews.
