ZIEMBA, Lawrence E.

Lawrence E. Ziemba, 83, of Middletown and formerly of Vernon, husband of the late Shirley (Wilson) Ziemba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Hartford, the son of the late William and Victoria (Mistrock) Ziemba, he grew up and lived in Vernon for most of his life before moving to Middletown twelve years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1981, Larry was a master electrician with the former LaPointe Company in Rockville for over 20 years. He was also employed by Pratt & Whitney as an electrical engineer. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Rockville. Larry enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He was a member of the Rockville Moose Club, the Polish American Club, and the Rockville Fish and Game Club. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved children, Lawrence Ziemba of Ellington, Thomas Ziemba and his wife Maureen of Stafford Springs, Daniel Ziemba of Vernon, Kathleen Costanzo of Middletown, Michael Ziemba and his wife Jane of Ellington, William Ziemba and his wife Sandy of CA, and Mary Bartolotta and her husband Sebastiano of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Larry was also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 West Street, Rockville. Burial will follow in Windsorville Cemetery, East Windsor. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Middlesex Hospice & Palliative Care, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
