FITZIN, Marion (Grace)

Marion (Grace) Fitzin, 67, of Stafford Springs, loving wife of Daniel Fitzin, died peacefully at a family home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, (February 14, 2013). Marion was born in Hartford, the daughter of John P. Grace and Gertrude Adella (Wyse) Grace. She was an active member of her churches and a committed member to bible chicks. Marion loved Green Bay Packers, UConn basketball, being Irish, the Irish hour and Maine. Marion attended East Windsor High School where she loved being a student and a cheerleader. Marion was a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and retired as a RN at Children's State Receiving Home in East Windsor. Marion is survived by her children, Steven Sorensen of Somers, Tom and Kim Sorensen of Vermont, Shannon Sorensen of East Windsor and Erik and Karen Fitzin of South Windsor. She is also survived by her siblings, Sharon Grace of Broad Brook, Mary and Butch Grace of Windsor, Lorraine Mas of Broad Brook, Gary and Janet Winter of Manchester and Roger and Cindy Thibodeau of Broad Brook; 11 grandchildren; Jessica, Brett, Chelsea, Kris, Caitlin, Tyler, Jacob, Erika, Amanda, Rebecca and Marissa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Marion was predeceased by her parents, John and Gertrude Grace of Broad Brook.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday (Feb. 19) at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Broad Brook. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening (Feb 18) from 5-7 p.m. at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor.
