Michael R. Redemske Obituary


Michael R. Redemske, 68, of Avon, beloved husband to Mary Jo (Horrell) Redemske, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home. Born in Chicago, IL, son of the late Emil and Marie (Rossman) Redemske, he was raised in Chicago, and received his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his M.S.T. from DePaul University. Michael served in the 107th Finance Battalion of the US Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he became a CPA and joined Price Waterhouse where he worked for over 25 years, eventually becoming a managing tax partner. He then joined the faculty at the UCONN School of Business teaching tax accounting. At UConn he also oversaw the VITA program and served on the MSA admissions committee. He was a past president of the Connecticut CPA Society. He enjoyed golfing, reading, cheering on his grandchildren in their sporting activities, and taking long road trips with his wife Mary Jo. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter Valerie Hyde and her husband Chris of Berlin, CT; a son Richard M. Redemske of Boston, MA; two brothers Ronald and Kenneth Redemske both of Chicago, IL; two grandsons Ryan and Kyle Hyde; and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Saturday; 8:30 AM at Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
