LUURTSEMA, Michelle
Michelle "Mickey" Luurtsema, 66, of Storrs, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday September 9, 2012 with her closest family by her side. She was born on July 10, 1946 in Willimantic. Mickey was the daughter of the late Aime "Popeye" Daigle and Beverly Jeane Lafauvre. She resided in Storrs with her family and enjoyed time at the family cottage in Massachusetts. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her exceptional love for friends and family brought people together and built many lasting relationships and memories. Mickey was employed for many years as an office manager at the Tire Clinic in Columbia and was active in the Willimantic Chamber of Commerce and in the community. She was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth Luurtsema Sr. Mickey is survived by her children Heather Fitzgerald and her husband Tom, Kenneth Luurtsema Jr. and his wife Amanda; as well as two grandchildren and her partner Ron Barie.
Mickey's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday September 13, 2012 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic with her funeral service beginning at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Eastern Connecticut 34 Ledgebrook Dr. Mansfield, CT 06250.
