CHAMBERLAIN, Nancy Haller
Nancy Haller Chamberlain, 81, of West Simsbury, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday (April 28, 2012) at McLean Home in Simsbury. She was born October 22, 1930 in Marblehead, MA, the oldest daughter of the late Cyrus W. and Marie K. Haller. She graduated from Skidmore College in 1952 with a BS in Nursing. Shortly after graduation from college she met and married Bob. The next phase of her life involved raising her family of six children--a task she took on with enthusiasm, love and devotion. Once her children were grown, she returned to her first "love" which was nursing. She worked for the Simsbury VNA until moving to McLean Home to develop the home care program. Nancy was the epitome of a caring and compassionate healthcare professional and she commanded the respect and admiration of those with whom she worked. After her retirement, she continued for several more years as a Hospice volunteer at McLean home. Nancy was a member of the Simsbury Garden club and her green thumb was second to none. Whether tending to the orchids in her greenhouse, the gardens at her home and at her son Bob's beach house, or the many flower arrangements she made for family and friends. When she wasn't busy with family, patients or flowers she could be seen at daily Mass at St Catherine's of Siena Church in West Simsbury. It is a rare individual who is loved by all and Nancy was that person and she will be greatly missed by all. She was pre deceased by her husband Robert D. Chamberlain in October 2011, and is survived by her daughter, Anne Elizabeth "Beth" Chamberlain of Enfield; five sons, Dr. Robert Davis Chamberlain, Jr. and his wife Linda of Westbrook, John Michael Chamberlain and his wife Karen of Enfield, William Andrew Chamberlain of Fairfield, Mark Winston Chamberlain and his wife Pam of Salt Lake City, UT, and Richard Haller Chamberlain of New York City; 11 grandchildren, Amy Scribner and her husband Nate, Nick, Brooke, Adam, Mike, Alex, Brett, Kate, Abby, Melanie and Natalie; two great grandchildren Joshua and Jack; her sisters Jane Haller McCabe of Columbus, OH, Carolyn Haller Wallace of Cincinnati, OH, Gretchen Haller Holtz of Middleton MA; and several nieces and nephews.
