DAMATO, Nicholas Joseph

Nicholas Joseph Damato, Jr. 68, of Simsbury, loving husband of Margaret A. (Korenkiewicz) Damato, passed away Sunday (February 3, 2013) at home with his devoted family by his side. He was born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1944 in Hartford, the son of Jean (Stefano) Damato of Avon and the late Nicholas J. Damato, Sr. He attended the University of Hartford. He owned and operated Damato Carpet and Area Rugs of Canton for 45 years. He was an avid boater and collector of classic and exotic cars as well as model cars. A kid at heart, Disney World was his favorite place to vacation. Nick was a member of the Corvette Club of Connecticut and an avid New York Yankee fan. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Nicole C. Damato-Pierce and husband, Jeffry of South Windsor and Kristin M. Damato-Brazalovich and husband, Phil of South Windsor, Peter M. Damato and wife, Catherine of Burlington, MA, Katherine V. Damato and Jack N. Damato both of Simsbury; stepchildren, Thomas J. Truszowski, Julia N. Ouellette, Jessica C. Ouellette and Amanda P. Ouellette; his grandchildren, Brittany Taylor Perone, Philip J. Brazalovich, Casey Lea Brazalovich, Jacqueline P. Damato and Michael C. Damato; and many cousins among them a very dear and special cousin who was thought of as a brother, Myles F. Connolly, Jr. Nick was a mentor to many, among them Steven Abbate, Thomas Truszkowski and John Marek, who was also Nick's godson. He also leaves behind his dear aunts and uncles, Tina Connolly, Mary Frances Ensign, Michael and Lois Stefano, Nancy and Don Abbate and Dolores Stefano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. The burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield.
