Nicolas "Nico" FILIPPA Obituary

FILIPPA, Nicolas "Nico"

Nicolas "Nico" Filippa, of Enfield, the cherished eleven-year-old son of Dawn (Roberts) and Frank Filippa, slipped away from his loving family into the waiting arms of angels on Thursday, (September 26, 2013) at The Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. Born on June 5, 2002 in Hartford, Nico will be remembered as a beautiful little boy whose smile lit up a room. A young boy full of energy and love, he loved watching and playing sports, and listening to music, particularly Bon Jovi. He enjoyed playing chess and was a member of the Chess Club at Parkman Elementary School. Nico was currently a student in the 6th grade at JFK Middle School, where he was a member of the PAWS Club. Most memorably, he loved the Red Sox but cheered for the Yankees to be like his uncle. Left to comfort one another with cherished memories of Nico are his mother and father, Dawn and Frank Filippa; his two brothers, Cameron and Brendan Lawlor; a sister Carina Filippa; his Aunts and Uncles, Paul and Tracy Urso of Enfield, William and R. Lynn Costa of Glastonbury and Vincent Filippa of Wethersfield; his five cousins, Zachary, Cassandra and Gabriella Urso and Will and Tianna Costa; his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Lorraine Roberts of Tavares, FL; his paternal grandparents, Vincenzo and Concetta Filippa of Wethersfield; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Waiting to welcome Nico to Heaven were his maternal great-grandmother, Maria DeMartini; great-grandparents, Antonio and Raffaela Stocco and Francesco and Raffaela Filippa. He is now resting in their arms.
Funeral services for Nico will be held Monday, September 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Please meet at church. Burial will be privately held at a later date.
