Paul Vincent DeBacco, 91, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 51 years of Geraldine (Caron) DeBacco, departed this life on Wednesday (March 12, 2014) at home. Born in Hartford on July 11, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Palambizio) DeBacco. Paul served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He retired in 1984 from Connecticut Transit after 35 years of service and was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local #425. He caddied at Wethersfield Country Club in his early years and was an avid golfer his whole life. After retirement, he enjoyed painting ships and gardening, but nothing mattered more to him than his family. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Paul will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Geraldine; his three children, James DeBacco and his wife Lucy of Rocky Hill, Paula Passauer of Newport News, VA and Charles DeBacco of Hartford; three adored grandchildren, Matthew and Lesley DeBacco and Vincent Passauer; a brother, William DeBacco of Tolland and a sister, Helen Gautieri of Middletown, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen (Puziak) DeBacco and his brothers, John and Albert DeBacco. Funeral services will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Monday from 9-10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O.
