MARZI, Peter Joseph

Peter Joseph Marzi, also known lovingly as Nono to many, age 88 of New Britain, widower of beloved wife Rita (Piccoli) Marzi, passed away on October 5, 2012 at the Hospital of Central CT with his family by his side. Peter was born May 24, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of New Britain. He was the son of the late Camille and Olga (Conti) Marzi. He graduated NBHS, class of '42, was employed by Heslin Dairy and Guida Dairy for 27 years and several years following at Reno Machine. Peter was a parishioner of St. Ann Church and was married there on Oct. 20, 1945, He enjoyed golfing and was an avid New York sports fan of the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Rangers as well as Notre Dame. Peter is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Kenneth Marzi and wife Judyth, William Marzi, and Kathleen Griswold and husband Terrence, all of New Britain; his grandchildren, Amy Griswold, Peter and Liza Griswold, Kevin and Dianne Marzi, Pete and Kristin Campbell, Tara Marzi and Keith Marzi; he is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Caden, Annalia, Jorian, Elloria, Noah, Connor, Maewyn, Kellan; and brother-in-law, Leo Piccoli; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Peter was also predeceased by two brothers, Vincent and Jerome Marzi; and a sister, Rosemary (Marzi) Morra.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at 8 a.m. at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 9 a.m. at St. Ann Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 from 4-7p.m. at the funeral home. For directions or to express an online condolence, please visit www.newbritainsagarino.com.
