Priscilla Neff Obituary

NEFF, Priscilla Barker Priscilla Barker Neff of West Hartford passed away on Thursday (February 26, 2009). Born in Hartford on March 21, 1918, she was raised in West Hartford. She was a graduate of Hall High School and Leslie Junior College in Boston. Prior to her marriage to Benjamin Joseph Neff, Jr. on October 23, 1943, she was employed by Connecticut Natural Gas in Hartford. The daughter of William Thornton Barker and Ruth Maria Wright Barker, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Barker. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Carroll Seaholm; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Michele Neff of Gilbert, AZ and a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Joseph Opulski of Kensington. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott Neff of California, Beth Griffith of Massachusetts, Jill Wieczorek of Kensington, Lynn Aubin of Hamden, Kimberly Opulski of Pennsylvania and four great grandchildren. She resided in Brooklyn, CT for 35 years. While there, she was active in the Women's Auxiliary Board of the Day Kimball Hospital, serving in many capacities including President. She was a Brownie leader, active in Westfield Congregational Church and a member of many bridge clubs. In 1988 she moved to Farmington and resided there for several years before moving to the McAuley in West Hartford. While at McAuley she ran the bridge club and participated in many social activities. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational both in her youth and her later years. The family would like to thank the staff of McAuley for their wonderful care over the years. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., March 21, at the McAuley Auditorium, 275 Steele Rd., West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Priscilla's memory may be made to First Church of Christ, 12 South Main St., West Hartford, CT 06107.
