Obituary Condolences

Richmond Howard Adams, 79, of Barton Ave., Old Saybrook, passed away Thursday, (September 25, 2003) in Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. He was the beloved husband of Flavia (Crotty) Adams. He was born on January 17, 1924 in Wells, ME, and was the son of the late Nelson and Clara (Dixon) Adams. Mr. Adams was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 1950, majoring in mechanical engineering and was also a licensed professional engineer. He retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1987 after 37 years of employment. He was also a member of the Old Saybrook Historical Society and Fenwick Golf Club. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a son, Brian Adams and his wife, Linda, of White Bear Lake, MN; two daughters, Patricia Pannone and her husband, Michael of Plainville and Maureen McPherson and her husband, John of Derry, NH; a brother, Nelson Adams of Yalesville; a sister, Marion Locke of Goffstown, NH; six grandchildren, Kevin and Meghan McPherson, Bryce and Christopher Adams, and Amanda and Thomas Pannone; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Monday, September 29, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Old Saybrook. Friends and relatives may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Monday morning at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. Interment will take place Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Rochester, NH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. John's Roman Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 161 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or Connecticut Community Care, 100 Great Meadow Rd., Wethersfield, CT 06109.
