Robert E. Trombley Sr. Obituary


Robert E. Trombley, Sr., 88, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of the late Frances (Hayes) Trombley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bloomfield to the late Frederick and Agnes (Furlong) Trombley, he was a resident of Bloomfield for over 60 years before splitting his time between Florida and East Granby for the last 28 years. Robert served his country proudly with the 29th Infantry Division of the US Army during WWII and landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion. He retired from the J. M. Ney Co. in Bloomfield as the Director of Electronic Sales before he and his wife Frances started their own travel agency, Trombley Travel. Robert was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield, the Bloomfield Lion's Club, Rotary Club and the Masons Valley Lodge #36. He served on the Bloomfield Town Council, was active in the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce and coached for the Bloomfield Little League. Robert enjoyed boating, daily walks on the beaches of Marco Island, and was an avid golfer. He loved to travel and visited many places around the world with his loving wife. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his sons: Robert E. Trombley, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Manchester; Kevin Trombley and his wife Amy of Vernon; his daughters: Pamella Barstow and her husband Carlton of West Boylston, MA; and Cheryl Beane and her husband James of South Windsor; his grandchildren: Jacqueline and Francesca Trombley, Erin Finn and her husband Patrick, Jeremy Barstow and his wife Stephanie, Jonathan Beane and his wife Amanda, and Melissa Elmore and her husband Nate; his great-grandchildren: Abigail, Jacob, Connor, Cameron and Nora; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Fred, George and Farrell Trombley. A memorial mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, January 4 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave Bloomfield. Burial will be private at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
