Robert J. ANDERSON

Obituary Condolences

ANDERSON, Robert J. Robert J. "Bob" Anderson, 59 of Burlington, CT, and Englewood, FL was called home to be with our lord, Friday, (January 29, 2010) with his loving wife, Arline (Lofquist) Anderson at his side. Born in Bristol on December 10, 1950, he was the son of Lucille (Janick) Anderson and the late John I. Anderson. He was predeceased by his brother Richard W. Anderson. Bob grew up in Bristol and served in the United States Army. He made a home with his family in Burlington, CT and retired from The Town of Farmington, Parks and Recreation Department in July 2009. Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to Englewood, Florida. Bob was a member of various organizations including The American Legion Post #02, The Bristol Elks Club, The Bristol Polish American Citizens Club and a Northeast Bass Association participant. Bob had a great appreciation for the outdoors. His hobbies included hunting, lobstering, and fishing. His true passion was fishing, and he enjoyed nothing more than a day on the water, whether freshwater or saltwater fishing. While in Connecticut, he could often be found landing bluefish and stripers from the waters of New London. His fishing expeditions brought him to participate in several fishing tournaments including the annual LCI Tournament in Lake Champlain, VT. He particularly enjoyed fishing off the Gulf Coast of Florida, including Stump Pass, Boca Grande, and the Florida Keys, where he brought in several Tarpon, his largest measuring just over six feet. Bob shared his love of fishing, with his family including his beloved grandchildren, and his very special life-long friends. His sense of humor was relentless and he will be greatly missed by all. Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by his daughter Donna Tharau and her husband, Christopher Tharau, along with their children, Amber, Haley, and Christina; as well as his daughter Denise Anderson and her children Michael and Jordon, all of Burlington, CT. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday, February 11 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 12 at 10 am in the Church of St. Gregory, Maltby St., Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
