Obituary Condolences

HANNINGTON, Sandra R.
Sandra "Sandy" Rollins Hannington, 77, went home to be with our Lord on March 16, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 12, 1935 in Orient, ME to Leslie L. and Annie Mae (Dewitt) Rollins. In 1951, Sandra married Derl F. Hannington in East Hartford. They were happily married until his death in 1982. Sandra began working at Olivetti Underwood and Royal Typewriter in Hartford as an assembler in the mid fifties. In 1969, while working, Sandra attended night school to obtain her high school diploma after only finishing school through the eighth grade. She was the first person to complete freshman through senior classes in the adult education program in the town of East Hartford. She graduated in the same year as her youngest son. With this diploma, Sandra was able to take a job at The Travelers Insurance Group from which she later retired. Sandra was a long time member of the Manchester Church of Christ in Manchester. She loved painting, reading, playing dominos with friends, singing, playing the auto harp, and cherished being a part of the volunteer staff at Tidal River Christian Camp. But most of all, she loved the Lord and her brothers and sisters in Christ. Sandra is survived by her three sons Michael E. (Patricia) Hannington of Madison, OH, Robert M. Hannington of Manchester, and Jeffery D. (Gail) Hannington of Tolland; her sisters Jean Kitchen and Dawn Kitchen; her brothers Emile "Tug" Rollins and Mace Rollins; her sister-in-law Eldona (Larry) Murphy; her grandchildren Justin, Christina, Jessica (Palmer), Katherine, Ashley, Kelsey, Lindsey Hannington; and her great-grandchildren Brianna, Wyatt, Chelsey, and Ayden.
The memorial service will be held at Manchester Church of Christ at 595 Tolland Tpke., Manchester, at 11 a.m. on March 22, 2013. There will be no calling hours. The burial will be at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Manchester Church of Christ at 595 Tolland Tpke., Manchester, CT, 06042, and memo Capital Stewardship Campaign.
