GALLITTO, Sebastiano

Sebastiano Gallitto, 74, of Cromwell died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday (November 18, 2012). Born in Melilli, Siracusa, Sicily, on Jan. 1, 1937, he was the son of the late Luigi and Maria (Aresco) Gallitto. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Tine) Gallitto for 49 years and the proud father of three children; Laura Galer and her husband Michael of Middletown, Gino Gallitto and his wife Tanya of Old Saybrook, and Milena Frazer and her husband Jesse of Cromwell; six grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Seby, Gino, Jesse, Jr., and Aedan; Sebastiano is also survived by two sisters, Pina Veca of Sicily, and Lucia Cipolla and her husband Carlo of Middletown; he also leaves numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt. In Sicily, as a teenager Sebastiano learned the art of stone masonry from his father. After moving to this country in 1963 he eventually opened his own masonry company in Hartford, known as GMC Mason. Sebastiano carried on the tradition by teaching his son and sons-in-law the trade of masonry. He enjoyed spending his summers at his beach house in Westbrook with family and friends where he enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren his passion for fishing.
Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 20, 2012 from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may visit the funeral chapel TODAY from 3-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the , 825 Brook Street I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT.
