Stephen Michalec Obituary

Stephen F. Michalec, 91 of San Clemente, CA and formerly of Stafford Springs, died Sunday, (December 2, 2001) in California. He was the widower of the late Rose (Bartizek) Michalec who died in June of 1991. Stephen was born in Stafford Springs, son of the late John and Suzanna (Kutka) Michalec. He was the oldest of seven brothers of the Michalec family. While in Stafford he established Seven Brothers Auto Repair Shop, wrecking yard and towing service. Stephen moved to California, and in 1949 he established Seven Brothers Real Estate. Stephen was recognized as one of the major civic developers of San Clemente and of the Dana Point Harbor, earning the title of "Mr. San Clemente". Stephen is survived by his two sons, Timothy and John Michalec of California; a grandson, Michael; four brothers, Martin Michalec of Union, Edward Michalec of California, Rudolph Michalec of California, Benjamin Michalec of California and Connecticut; three sisters, Katherine Sartori of Staffordville, Pauline Eilau of California, and Olga Minter of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and George Michalec; and a sister, Emelia Kalbac. Funeral service was held in San Clemente, CA on Dec. 7, 2001.
