Walter E. Szot, 35, of Newington, passed away on Friday (November 23, 2012) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born on September 19, 1977 in Hartford, he was the son of Emil and Genevieve (Kielb) Szot of Newington. He was a graduate of Newington High School and Lincoln Technical Institute where he received his degree in Electronics. He was a beloved son, father, brother and friend. He will be missed by many. Walter previously worked as a Manager at the May Institute Group Homes located in Manchester, South Windsor, New Britain and Stonington and also in fugitive recovery. He was a natural with his hands, as a mechanic or handyman, always willing to help family and friends. There was nothing Walter couldn't do or learn. He was the person you called whenever there was a project to be done. Besides his parents, Walter is survived by his son, Anthony Charles Szot-Lopez and his mother, Jolanda Lopez and her children, Keila and Luis; a daughter, Jasmin Pagan and her mother, Margarita Pagan; his brother, Charles M. Szot and his wife Ann and their son, Michael of Greer, SC; his brother, Anthony J. Szot and his wife Rosemary and their sons, Cordell and Skyler of Farmington. Walter leaves three aunts and an uncle, Gladys Kielb of East Hartford, Karolina Szot of Hartford, Stefanie Szady and her family of Cromwell and Joseph Kielb and his family of Lancaster, PA. In addition, Walter leaves several cousins and many close and special friends. His paternal and maternal grandparents predeceased him.
Relatives and friends may call on Walter's family on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2012 at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Thursday morning, at 9 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Newington.
