Alta I. Durgan Obituary

Alta I. Durgan (Irish) 82, of North Windham, CT formally of Coventry, CT beloved wife of Ronald E. Durgan passed away peacefully at Regency Heights of Windham on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. She was born October 8, 1931 in Sherman Maine, daughter of the late Francis Irish and Amelia Landers. She had worked at Deknatel located in Coventry for 19 years before retiring and then helped in raising her grandchildren. She loved life, her family and her camp located in Maine, where she would spend the summers boating and enjoying the water. She loved to take long walks, paint, read, and travel and was not afraid to tackle new challenges or obstacles. She is survived by her husband Ronald Durgan of North Windham, their children; Glenn A. Durgan and his wife Debra and their daughter Michelle of Tolland, Patti A. Foreman (Hatfield/ Durgan) and her husband Edward of Bolton and her two sons Matthew Hatfield and his wife Jessica of East Haddam and Seth Hatfield of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Julianna Kingsbury and Adalyn Hatfield, two siblings Audrey Darke and her husband Raymond of Levant, ME and Nina Dwyer of Augusta, ME, a sister-in-law, Priscilla Whitney of Hendersonville, NC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by ten of her siblings Frances Gould, John, Vaughn, Bill, Maurice, Charles, Leon, Alfred, Winfred and Alvin Irish. Friends and family are invited to join the family on Saturday February 8 at 11:00 am at Trinity Covenant Church 302 Hackmatack St, Manchester for a memorial service and reception to follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Regency Heights for the dignity and care that they showed toward Alta and the family over the years.
