Elizabeth Boyle Obituary


Elizabeth (Burns) Boyle "Bette" passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on February 4, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Eleanor (DiBattista) Burns from Bloomfield. She was born on September 27, 1946. Bette attended Bloomfield High, the class of 1964. She graduated from Bryant with honors in 1967, completing her studies in three years. She moved to Boston to pursue her career as a Buyer at Jordan Marsh until she moved back to Connecticut. She also worked for Aetna Life & Casualty Company until she retired. Bette was predeceased by her best friend and husband of 32 years, James (Jim) Boyle in August of 2004. They met at the Catholic Graduates Club of Hartford. They lived in Virginia before moving back to Wethersfield, where they resided for many years. Most recently, Bette lived in West Hartford. She was the caring mother to her two children, Elena Boyle of Windsor and James Boyle II (Jamie) and his wife Andrea of Wethersfield. Bette will be dearly missed by granddaughter, Kate Boyle of Wethersfield, whom she adored. She leaves her sister and friend, Carolyn Lloyd and her husband Ernest from Broad Brook and her brother, John Burns from West Hartford. She also leaves her dear sister-in-law, Jane Boyle from Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Justin and Joseph Burns. Bette cherished her family and leaves many nieces, nephews and loving cousins. She especially leaves her "sister" cousin, Virginia Halloran from East Lyme. Bette was loyal and devoted to her Catholic faith. She leaves behind her many dear friends. She touched so many people throughout her life. Bette will be greatly missed. She was known for her selflessness and devotion to her family. She cared for her daughter, her mother, her husband and her brothers during their time of need. The funeral service will leave Tuesday (February 11) at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may join the family on Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
