Emma Leardi Obituary

Emma (Tabellione) Leardi, 100, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the New Britain Andrew House where she had been a resident for 13 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Leardi, Sr., who passed away in December of 1970. Born in New Britain on August 20, 1913, daughter of the late Oratzio and Concetta (DiNardis) Tabellione, she recently celebrated her 100th birthday with close relatives. Emma retired from Stanley Works in 1975 after working for 30 years. For many years, she was a faithful volunteer for the American Red Cross working at local bloodmobiles. Emma was a founding member of the Marconi Society and Garden Park A.C. Women's Auxiliary. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann's Parish in New Britain and participated in many events held at the church. Emma is survived by two sons, Edward J. and Barbara of Edwardsville, IL and Richard and Tatyana of Bristol; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Connie Wagner of New Britain and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion for others. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, Feb. 8th, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 47 Clark St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
