Willie Mae Murray Obituary

Mrs. Willie Mae (Golston) Murray passed away on Saturday, (February 15, 2014) in Bloomfield. She was born on July 9, 1922 in Perry, FL to the late Willie and Della (Wright) Golston. She received Christ at an early age and was a member of Little Mount Olive Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL. Most recently she attended the First Cathedral in Bloomfield until failing health prevented her attendance. Mrs. Murray moved to Connecticut over fifty years ago and lived in Bloomfield for the past twenty-two years. Her hobbies included reading and travelling. Following her retirement from the Mt. Sinai Dietary Department, she had travelled to Canada, Central and South America and practically every island in the Caribbean. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Armstrong and Melvin O. Murray, Sr.; her brothers, Willie and Joseph Golston; a sister, Wanda Golston; and four of her twelve children: daughter, Evelyn (Murray) Pinder; and sons, Melvin, Jr., Stanley, and Bernard Murray. She leaves sadden by her passing but glad and blessed to have her in our lives and overjoyed that she is now in the presence of the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8), the family she loved and to whom she devoted her life: brothers, Leroy, Benjamin, and Larry Golston; sisters, Martha Ann and Peggy; daughters, Cora, Marilyn, and Denise Murray; sons, Frank (Georgia) Armstrong, Leroy, Cornel (Minerva), Allen (Brenda), and Glenn Murray, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as other relatives in Connecticut, New York, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. Services will be private. The family requests no flowers. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit,
