Alcide Tacy Obituary

Alcide L. Tacy, 92, of West Simsbury, husband of the late Madeline (Foy) Tacy, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was born March 20, 1921 in Florence, MA, son of the late Alcide and Hazel (McCarthy) Tacy and had lived in Hartford prior to moving to West Simsbury many years ago. Al was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of UCONN having received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Tacy was a Partner in the engineering consulting firm Vanzelm, Heywood and Shadford in West Hartford for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury, the New Britain Elks Club and the Newington Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his longtime family friend, Mary Anne Skelly and her family, his goddaughter, Suzanne Kaswan; his godson William Ennis, his cousin Frank Collins and many close friends. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Tuesday, February 18th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury.
