Nancy A. Stubbs Obituary

Nancy A. Stubbs, 77, a longtime resident of Newington, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in New Britain. Born in Taunton, MA, Nancy was the daughter of the late Leo and Hilda (Briggs) O'Donnell and a graduate of Taunton High School, Class of 1954. She was employed for many years at the Hartford National Bank as Head Teller at their Wethersfield Ave., Hartford Branch and finished her career at the American Savings Bank in New Britain. She had been a communicant of St. Mary's Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and a Past President of the Catholic Ladies of Columbus. She enjoyed UCONN women's basketball, the Boston Red Sox and her many visits to Cape Cod. Nancy is survived by her son, Bob Stubbs and his wife, Pat of Newington, her daughter, Becky Miller and her partner, Bob Lozier of New Britain; her six grandchildren, Michele Meyer and her husband, Tom; Michael Stubbs and his wife, Kathleen; Tim Miller and his wife, Nicole; Julie Stubbs; James and Emily Miller; six great grandchildren, Kendall and Austin Miller, Kelsey, Cody, Dylan and Danica Meyer; her sister, Barbara Lyons of Spofford, NH, her aunt, Janet Minchener of Lakeville, MA, her uncle, Donald Briggs of Taunton, MA, her sister-in-law, Betty O'Donnell, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a lifelong friend, Rita Kerr and her close friends, Laura and Peter Galasyn. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Butch. Nancy's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Hospital of Central CT CCU for their kindness and tender care during Nancy's last days. Friends may call on Nancy's family on Wednesday, February 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave. Funeral services will begin on Thursday morning, February 20th at 9:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home to St. Mary's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow the Mass in West Meadow Cemetery in Newington.
