Mark C. Brousseau Obituary

Mark C. Brousseau, 55, of Port Hadlock WA, formerly of Newport RI, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2014. Mark was born in Springfield MA and raised in Windsor CT. He was the son of the late Jean (John) and Helen Brousseau of Windsor. Developing a love for the ocean at a young age, Mark always knew he wanted to work at sea. With that in mind, he attended Denver Diesel College specializing in large marine engines, graduating in 1979. Mark went on to become an extremely talented marine engineer who took great pride in his work. Mark worked on ferries, tugs and supply ships -- just about anything that floated. Starting out from Newport, Mark worked on boats up and down the east and gulf coasts, the Pacific Northwest, Guam, Hawaii, and Alaska. Mark was a fantastic storyteller and had a passion for writing. He would entertain family and friends with dramatic tales of his adventures at sea and the many ports he had called home. Mark enjoyed sharing his unique perspective with wit and candor. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Sarah, Lizbeth, Mark Jr. and Caitlin, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Maryellen Brousseau and Elizabeth Paganetti (James), brothers John (Linda) and Michael (Lori), six nieces and nephews, and his dear friend Nancy Sponzo. A memorial service will be held Sunday February 23, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor, CT. Friends may call prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OlyCAP, 803 W Park Ave. Port Townsend, WA 98368. May Mark have fair winds, blue skies and calm seas.
