Robert S. Maxwell Obituary

Robert S. Maxwell, 68, of West Hartford, the husband of Marilyn (Drayton) Maxwell, died Wednesday Feb. 19, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, the son of the late John W. and Patricia (Sullivan) Maxwell, he had lived in West Hartford most all of his life. He was a graduate of Conard High School and attended the University of Hartford. He was drafted after graduation and served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Returning from his service he began his over 30 year career in the liquor industry here in Connecticut. He was the former owner of Cellar of Wines and Liquors in Farmington and Glen Lochen Wines in Glastonbury. His first love was family and grandchildren. He enjoyed a round of golf and working in the garden. Along with his wife Marilyn he is survived by his son Christopher K. Maxwell and his wife Kristen of Farmington, his daughter Mindy Dias and her husband Mike of West Hartford and his grandchildren Madison and Mia Dias and Andrew Maxwell. He also leaves his brothers and sisters; John Maxwell and his wife Jane, Linda Crowe, Suzanne Bailey-Gates, Laurie Maxwell and Jeffrey Maxwell, and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join Marilyn and her family for a gathering of friends on Sunday Feb. 23, in the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford from 2-5 p.m. John Maxwell will offer a remembrance beginning at 4:30 P.M.
