Raymond Francis D'Attilio, 80, of East Hartford, loving husband of Sandra (Moir) D'Attilio, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 with his caring family by his side at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on August 1, 1933, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Caporale) D'Attilio, he had resided in the East Hartford area for most of his life. Raymond was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, Class of 1952 and attended the University of Connecticut. Prior to his retirement, he was a talented self-employed painter/wallpaper hanger and was the founder and co-owner with his son, Ken, of "Ken's Corner" Family Restaurant in Glastonbury. Raymond enjoyed playing cards, (especially the weekly poker games with his friends) and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and the UCONN Basketball teams. Most of all, Raymond cherished spending time with his family and their "Spaghetti Monday" dinners for over the past 20 years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William "Bill" D'Attilio of Wethersfield, Leon D'Attilio of Tucson, AZ, and Americo "Rick" D'Attilio of East Hartford. Along with his beloved wife, Sandra, Raymond is survived by a daughter, Theresa A. Hyatt and her husband, Louis, of East Hartford; five sons, Mark R. D'Attilio and his wife, Gosia, of Plainville, Raymond F. D'Attilio, II and his wife, Sallie, of Manchester, Paul F. D'Attilio and his wife, Melanie, of Rocky Hill, Kenneth J. D'Attilio and his wife, Susan, of East Hartford, Anthony "Lou" R. D'Attilio and his wife, Karen, of East Hartford; eleven special grandchildren, Kyllie, Zachary, Ashley, DeAnna, Sarah, Michael, Alyssa, Liana, Erika, Alex, and Kenny; and one great-granddaughter, Jazmyn. He also leaves a brother, Rudolph "Rudy" D'Attilio and his wife, Marie, of Wethersfield; two sisters-in-law, Alice D'Attilio of East Hartford, and Beverly D'Attilio of Wethersfield; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be Sunday (March 2nd) at 3:30 pm at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday afternoon (March 2nd) from 12 noon to 3:30 pm.
