Ruth Langhof Obituary

Ruth Kavalauskas Langhof, 81, beloved wife of the late Alwin Langhof, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Bickford Health Care in Windsor Locks. Born in Lithuania on November 27, 1932, Ruth resided in Windsor for the majority of her life and for many years worked as a cook at Kimberly Hall Rehabilitation Center. Affectionately known as "Tate" by her nieces and nephews, Ruth's memory is forever cherished by her daughter, Christina Bafumo and her husband Chip of E. Granby; two sons, Edward Langhof and Karen Cosker of Somers and Roland Langhof of Somers; and Karen Constantine; two grandchildren whom she adored, Katie and David Bafumo; and two sisters, Gertrude Kruzinauskas of South Windsor and Martha Brazauskas of Suffield. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Ellie Kind and Helga Langhof; two brothers-in-law, Erich Langhof and Eugene Langhoff of Springfield, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Marie and brother, Frank. Ruth was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hartford and enjoyed sewing and crocheting doilies in her leisure time. She will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, kindness, and love of life. Her family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff nurses and CNAs that have cared for Ruth during her stay at Bickford Health Care Center. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday (March 8, 2014) in the chapel of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock. Ruth's family will receive friends on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
