Salvatore Fazzino Obituary


Salvatore Fazzino, Jr., 84 of Brockton, Massachusetts, died on March 2, 2014. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Carmella Moneglia Fazzino. He lived in Bloomfield, Avon, and Brockton, MA. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving as a combat construction specialist and supply room supervisor for Company C, 73d Engineer Combat Battalion during the Korean War. Sal was a well-respected contractor of custom homes with his brother, Joseph in Connecticut, and a member of' the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, basketball, and watching the Harlem Globetrotters. In later years, he was an avid gardener and cook, and enjoyed preparing a meal for upwards of 50 people on a weekly basis. He leaves two children, Elizabeth Fazzino and husband Steve Brown of North Granby, and Holly Fazzino and husband Donald Hebert of Hopkinton, NH. Sal leaves one granddaughter, Mikayla Belson, of Hopkinton, NH. He was predeceased by his infant brother Paulo, brothers Vincent, Paul and Joseph Fazzino, sister Pauline Sylvester and niece Paula Sylvester. He leaves three sisters: Rena DeNino, Josephine Santomenno and her husband Martin and Ellen Rossley and her husband Thomas as well as nieces and nephews. He leaves his goddaughter Dolores Fazzino of Encinitas, CA. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Burial with full Military Honors will follow inside Rose Hill Memorial Park. There will be one calling hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sal's memory may be made to VA Medical Recreation Department Building 8-1-B, 940 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA 02301. The family would like to thank the staff at Building 8-1-B for their many, many years of dedication to Sal's care.
