Eleanor Rummans Obituary


Eleanor"Tweet" Rummans, of Windsor, beloved wife of Burton L. Rummans, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was born on May 21, 1930 to the late James Hunt and Gabrielle (Bleau) Hunt. After graduating from John Fitch High School in Windsor, Eleanor went to work for Connecticut Mutual Insurance and played basketball for the Connecticut Mutual team. Eleanor met her husband Burt while he was stationed at Westover Air Force Base. Burt and Tweet were married on January 9, 1954, and moved to Southern California, where they spent many years in Buena Park. The family moved back to Windsor, Connecticut in 1963. She then worked for Connecticut General, Parker-Ellingwood Insurance Agency and Dr. Fleming's dental practice in Windsor. After the formation of the family business, Birchwood Type, Eleanor spent her time working with her husband and caring for her grandchildren. She loved collecting dolls, playing Mexican Train Dominoes with her family, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid Red Sox and UConn Basketball fan. Eleanor spent many days at Airways Golf Course playing golf and planting flowers. In addition to her loving husband Burt she is survived by her son, James B. Rummans and his wife Patricia, her daughter, Diane Rummans, her sister, Lois Barrows, her brother, John Hunt, and her grandchildren, Kathryn Boyer and her husband Michael, Suzanne Rummans, and James H. Rummans. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers James and Robert Hunt, and her grand-niece Bailey Bleau Barrows. The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at both Kettle Brook and Beacon Hospice, for the excellent care that Eleanor received. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor, CT. Burial will be private.
