James J. LaPenna Obituary

James J. LaPenna, 69, of Canton, beloved husband of Louise (Verrengia) LaPenna, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2014, with his loving family by his side. James was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Island on January 6, 1945; he was the son of the late Alberto and Teresa (Gonzalez) LaPenna. James attended Wethersfield schools. He worked as a baker at First National Bakery for 35 years and Becton, Dickinson and company for 8 years; he was an avid Corvette fan and owner. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, his positive outlook and easygoing attitude gave him strength and reflected in his everyday life. James will be dearly missed by his loving wife Louise; son James of Hartford; daughters Pamela Murray of Canton and Samantha LaPenna of Simsbury; three adored grandchildren, Melissa, David and Dylan; four cherished great grandchildren, Jason, Kaitlyn, Paul James, and Ava; two brothers, Anthony and Wayne LaPenna both of Wethersfield; and his dog Abby. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his eldest son Robert and his beloved dog TJ. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at DaVita dialysis, Newington for their care and compassion. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capital Ave. Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday (March 11) from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in James' memory may be made to the of CT, 1463 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.
