Robert L. Marquis Obituary

Robert L. Marquis, 72, of Willington, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born in Van Buren, ME, son of the late Wilfred and Madeline (Michaud) Marquis. Bob was the retired owner of Marquis Construction. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam until he returned in 1966. Bob was an active member of the Corporal Henry J. Toberman VFW Post No. 938 of Willington for nearly 35 years. He served many years as Commander and planned countless lobster bakes and Friday night dinners at "the post". Bob was also known for his service to the town of Willington, which he loved, and organized the town Memorial Day parade for decades. He loved fishing, hunting, and working on and building ATV's of all kinds. He was a man's man, who will be missed forever. Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gilpin) Marquis; son, Robert Marquis and his wife Dawn of Storrs, CT; two daughters, Emily Kennedy and her husband Michael of Willington, CT and Cheryl Ames of Manchester, CT; stepson, Frank Zanin and his wife Allyssa of Vernon, CT; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Ashley, April, Robert, Luke, Michael, Justin and Jayde; two sisters, Carline Parent and Simone Vaillencourt; brother, David Marquis; and several other extended family members. He was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, Gerard, Francis and Daniel Marquis. His funeral will be held on Friday March 14, 2014, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT followed by a Church Service at 10 A.M. at the Federated Church of Willington, 132 River Rd., Willington, CT. Burial with military honors will follow in Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington, CT. Calling hours are on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
