Born in Waterbury on February 24, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Cecile (Sirois) Pion and Joseph Pion. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years, Vito Grieco II, who died in September, 2012. Diane attended St. Anne School Hartford, Mt. Returning to Hartford, she worked for Travelrama as the Executive Assistant to the President & CEO for 18 years, after which she served as Office Administer at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford and ending her career as Administrator for Weinstein Mortuary. A singer throughout her life, she was a long time choir member and cantor at Sacred Heart Church in Old Wethersfield. Her love for God was enhanced by her appreciation of Judaism and Catholicism. She made them fit nicely together in her life. Her love for books fed her curiosity and her insatiable desire to learn about everything. She spent years researching her French Canadian heritage. A lover of animals, she became a breeder of Persian cats and over the years had many Siamese "children". Her deepest love was for her family. She leaves a son, Vito Grieco III and his wife Diane of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Regina Grieco Vignone and her husband John of Chelmsford, MA and her grandson, Christian Grieco, whom she adored and cherished. She is also survived by five siblings: Aline Wysocki of Hartford, Arthur Pion and his wife Nancy of FL, Jeanette Gumienny and her husband, Stanley of VT and FL, Julie Pion of Waterbury, Gloria Pion of FL; and dear, cherished friends: Cathy and Douglas, her godson Matthew, and McKenzie Brown of Wethersfield, Judy Garneau of Waterbury, Sharon Parker of Rocky Hill along with many other close and loving friends. In addition, she leaves several aunts, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and many wonderful cousins. She will also be greatly missed by her loving Labradoodle, Mercedes, and her two Siamese cats, Marble and Michelob, who were a great comfort during her illness. She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Robert Wysocki and Joseph Grieco. The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and aides of Masonicare Hospice, especially to Maria, Grace, June, and Joanne, for their extreme care and concern. Calling hours are Sunday (March 16) from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.
