Elinor Silverio Obituary

Elinor (Wilbur) Silverio, 92, of Plainville, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph, who predeceased her in 2009. Born in Hartford, Ellie was a daughter of the late Bernard and Wilma (Rau) Wilbur. Raised in West Hartford, she was a graduate of Hall High School. Predeceased by her first husband John Sullivan in 1945, Ellie married Joe with whom she settled in Plainville, where they raised their two children and shared 52 years of marriage. Ellie and Joe were longtime members of the Human Relations Council, and dedicated members of Our Lady of Mercy Church where Ellie spearheaded many fundraisers and shared her beautiful voice with the church choir. She began her career as a medical secretary, working for New Britain General Hospital for several years, and retired from Corsini-Hill Management in 1988. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and caring for her grandchildren in their early years, and was a devoted volunteer and supporter of the Plainville Community Food Pantry. Ellie's kindness and generosity towards others will forever be remembered by her family and her community. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John "Jack" and is wife, Susan of Lincolnville, ME, and Joseph and Jo-Ann of Plainville; her adored grandchildren, Elizabeth Morin and her husband, Dennis of Tolland, Emily Kosswig and her husband Eli of Plainville, and Matthew and his wife, Betcie of Lincolnville, ME; her great-granddaughter, Elinor Ann Silverio of Lincolnville, ME; her brother, Bernard Wilbur of West Hartford; sister, Janet Cosby of Midlothian, VA; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Ellie's life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church prior to the Mass, from 10-11 a.m. Ellie may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233, Plainville.
