Joseph Yanotchko Obituary


Joseph Yanotchko, 70, of Vernon, beloved husband of the late Dianne (Schinitis) Yanotchko, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Michael and Helen (Petruska) Yanotchko, he grew up and lived in Freeland, PA before moving to Vernon forty-three years ago. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1965. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was an electrical engineer at various companies, such as; Pratt & Whitney, Sorbus, and MAI Systems. He was a longtime communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville. Joseph was an avid golfer and bowler, and he enjoyed gardening and fixing electronic devices of all kinds, even devices that seemingly had little chance of ever working again. He loved sports and was a devoted Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Eagles and Uconn basketball fan. He was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He is survived by his sons, David Yanotchko and his wife Mary Boland of Jersey City, NJ, and Daniel Yanotchko and his wife Brendanne of South Windsor; his grandson, Andrew Yanotchko of South Windsor; many loving relatives, and his adopted pug, Romeo. Joseph was also predeceased by his brother, Michael E. Yanotchko. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the Easter Seals Capital Region & Eastern CT, 100 Deerfield Road, Windsor, CT 06095.
