Florence Bartus Obituary


Florence (Cochefski) Bartus, 91, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Bartus, Sr., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late William and Katherine (Sliwa) Cochefski, she was raised in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School. She lived and raised her family in Windsor for most of her life and was active with the Wilson Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Windsor Senior Center where she loved to play bingo. She leaves two daughters Carol Stevenson and her fiancé Edward Stephens of Key Largo, FL and Maribeth Reid and her husband Bill of Pawleys Island, SC; three sons Edward Bartus, Jr. and his wife Carol of Enfield, Joseph Bartus and his wife Marion and Richard Bartus and his wife Kathryn of Suffield; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Florence's family would like to thank the staff at Home & Community Health Services and the Evergreen Health Care Center for their exceptional care. We especially like to thank her long time friend and caregiver, Ela Griswold. Her family will receive friends Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 9 am - 10:30 am at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at St. Gertrude's Church, 550 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor. Burial will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Home & Community Health Services, P.O.
