Judith A. Cushing-Hills Obituary

Judith Ann Cushing-Hills, 66, of Columbia, CT, died Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Hartford Hospital following a long illness. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Morgan and Ellen Hills and her sister Joan Alice Stravinsky. She is survived by her sister Beverly Rotandaro , a brother Morgan Hills and their families; her daughter Jody (Scagliotti) Wilkinson and her husband Chris, step daughter Carie Lee and her husband Fred Jackson and her step son Jay. Additionally Judy leaves behind a special young lady, Ellen Wilkinson 8, of Wilkes Bare, PA, her grandchild named after her mother Ellen Hills. Judy was married to James Cushing, who lovingly took care of Judy throughout her extended illness. It was only through his commitment and tireless efforts did she live to enjoy the special times with her daughter and her granddaughter Ellen. Judy lived what could be considered an extraordinary life. She lived the full spectrum of the human condition. In taking care of others during their darkest hours she experienced the rage of addiction and hopelessness of terminal illness. She provided strength and consolation to family during times of profound sadness. She witnessed the glory and promise of her daughter, presided over the growth of her brother and shared in the trials and tribulations of parenting alongside her sisters. She lived with and without, and through it all remained a fiercely loyal daughter, sister, mother and wife. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday April 5th between 3:00 and 6:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic.
