Michele (Michael) Macaluso, age 85 of Milford, CT, died peacefully with his daughter by his side on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Farmington, CT. Born on August 28, 1928 in Manhattan, he was the third and youngest son of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppa DiMatteo Macaluso. He lived in Brooklyn until the age of 12, when he relocated to the Connecticut area. Michael attended the Utilities Engineering Institute in Chicago where he studied auto body & fender repair. He was a successful entrepreneur starting two businesses, Mike's Auto Body and Fiesta Motors. After retirement, he lived in Hallandale, FL for a brief time. Michael is remembered by his family as a generous and enthusiastic man who always supported their endeavors. He enjoyed all kinds of carpentry and repair work and was a terrific handyman. Michael was, above all, a huge animal lover who had many cats and dogs throughout his life. He loved all wildlife as well, including birds, and even had several pet ducks. Michael is survived by his daughter Patricia Labas and her husband David of Farmington; granddaughters Rachel M. Labas of East Bridgewater, MA, and Michele P. Labas of West Hartford; five nieces and nephews, Annette Macaluso of Shelton, Anthony Macaluso of Milford, Josephine Haschak of Naugatuck, Joseph Macaluso of Easton, and Paula Macaluso of Ansonia; and his good friend and former spouse Mary Macaluso. Michael is predeceased by his beloved son, Michael J. Macaluso, and his two brothers Joseph and Paul Macaluso. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Cody White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. Friends and family may call on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
