Eugenia Kapij Obituary


Eugenia (Madaraz) Kapij, 90, of Newington, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Roman Kapij. Born in Poland, she lived in West Hartford for a short time, and was a Newington resident most of her life. Eugenia enjoyed spending time in her garden tending to her flowers and vegetables, but above all, she loved spending time with her family. A wonderful and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves her four children, Jerry Kapij of East Hartford, Alice Pallak and her husband David of Spartenburg, SC, Ted Kapij of Newington and Walter Kapij of Hartford, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Myron Madaraz in Ukraine and her brother-in-law Jerry Kapij and family of Wethersfield. Her funeral service will begin on Friday, April 11th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hartford. She will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Panahkyda service at 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
