Robert J. Petig Obituary

Robert J. Petig, 65, of Newington, beloved husband of the late Debra (Reed) Petig, passed away on Wednesday (April 9, 2014). Born in Manchester on February 15, 1949, he was the son of the late William F. Petig, Jr. and Elna (Carlson) Petig. Bob worked for Graybar Electric. He retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving for over 20 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #1840 in Middletown as well as the American Legion Post #117 in Newington. Bob will be dearly missed by his loving daughter, Penny Petig and her partner, Staci Lands of Lewiston, NY; four brothers, William Petig and his wife Christine of New Britain, John Petig of Cromwell, Charles Petig and his wife Sandy of Middletown and Lester Petig and his wife LeeAnn of East Hartford and one sister, Bea Grover of Berlin, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Mary Hurlburt. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Bel-Air Manor for taking such excellent care of Bob during his stay. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday (April 14) at 11 a.m. at the State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. There are no calling hours.
