Virginia Davis Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" (James) Davis, 81 of Enfield, beloved wife of Robert P. Davis, died Thursday (April 10, 2014) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Stafford on December 10, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Marion (McBrierty) James. She lived in Enfield for most of her life. Before retiring she was secretary to the principal at Pleasant Valley Road School in South Windsor; she previously worked in the same capacity at Mabelle B. Avery School, Somers and as an executive secretary at Montgomery Co. in Windsor Locks. She was an active member of Enfield Congregational Church and was their Music Director for many years, and also served on many committees and was a former Head Deacon. She was a member of the Ft Myers Congregation Church UCC in Ft Myers, FL, and was active in their choir and bell choir. Ginny was a member and past president of Women's Club of Enfield and was the director of the Enfield Community Chorus for 12 years. She enjoyed her home life and loved to bake homemade goodies, including her infamous apple pie. She spent many summers camping and traveling within New England and enjoyed fishing, reading and spending the winter at their home in Ft Myers, FL. In addition to her devoted and loving husband, Robert, she leaves a daughter Nancy Gagne and her husband Buzz of Enfield; two grandchildren, Alicia Gagne in Florida and Amy Bollen and her husband, David in Florida; seven great grandchildren, Jonathan, Kaeleigh, Zachary, Alaina, David, Jacob and Matthew and cousins in CT and MD. She was predeceased by a brother, Reginald W. James. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at 1 p.m. at Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield Street, Enfield. Burial will follow at Enfield Street Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Monday, April 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
