Antonio Ficocelli Obituary

Antonio Ficocelli, 83, husband of Maria (DiBenedetto) Ficocelli, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his beloved friends and family. He was born on December 24, 1930 in Sepino Campobasso, Italy, son of the late Nicola and Rosina (Ricciardi) Ficocelli. Prior to his retirement, Tony worked as a master bricklayer and mason for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local #1. He was a true perfectionist at his craft. In his spare time, Tony loved to bowl, spend time with his friends at the Discenza farm, play cards and visit the casino. Besides his wife, Tony leaves behind two daughters, Ana Yacone of Wethersfield and Rosa Ficocelli of Rocky Hill, four grandchildren, Frank Yacone, Michael Yacone, Alicia (Ficocelli) Cullen and her husband Desi, and Stephanie Pion. Tony is also survived by his sister, Laura Karecki, his niece Elena Karecki and nephew Nino Karecki. The Ficocelli family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Dr. Dasanu, Dr. Pazooki, Dr. Silver and the nursing staff with the Hematology and Medical Oncology Group. The family would also like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital and Masonicare Hospice for their compassion and care. Family and friends may pay their respects Monday, April 14, 2014 from 10-12 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00. Burial will be private at the Mount St. Benedict Cemetery.
